About the role

For Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, we are looking for an Associate Scientist - Emerging Technologies to join the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) organization.

In this role, you will support cross-functional teams in developing and implementing innovative technologies across the product lifecycle. You will contribute to new product introductions, process improvements, and optimization initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Key responsibilities

As Associate Scientist, you will:

• Provide technical support for new and marketed products across the full lifecycle
• Support New Product Introductions (NPI) and lifecycle management activities
• Troubleshoot and improve:
• Formulations
• Manufacturing processes
• Analytical methods
• Raw materials and components
• Contribute to process optimization and cost improvements (COGs)
• Support technology transfer activities across internal and external manufacturing sites
• Participate in cross-functional projects to:
• Improve product quality and process capability
• Implement innovation and emerging technologies
• Potentially perform lab-based work, including feasibility and proof-of-concept studies
• Contribute to strategic initiatives such as:
• Process intensification
• Real Time Release / Integrated Quality

Your profile

Education & experience

• Bachelor's degree (BSc) in: Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Pharmaceutics or related scientific/engineering discipline
• 1 to 2 years of relevant experience (internships included)

Technical skills

• Basic understanding of:
• Analytical chemistry in a GMP environment
• Material characterization (spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal/physical methods)
• Analytical techniques & equipment
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing (drug substance or drug product)
• Familiar with:
• cGMP
• QbD (Quality by Design)
• PAT (Process Analytical Technology)
• Knowledge of basic statistics (e.g. multivariate analysis)

Systems knowledge (nice to have)

• Minitab or other statistical software
• MVA software
• Document management systems (e.g. SharePoint, TrueVault)
