Position Summary:

The Senior Scientific Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the scientific and strategic foundation of healthcare professional advertising campaigns. This individual leads the development of medically accurate, compelling, and compliant content that drives brand strategy and resonates with HCP audiences. As a senior leader, they collaborate cross-functionally with creative, account, strategy, and client teams to ensure scientific integrity and strategic alignment across all deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Strategy & Leadership

    • Serve as the scientific lead across multiple brands, ensuring strategic alignment with client objectives and medical accuracy.
    • Translate complex clinical data into clear, engaging messaging tailored for HCP audiences.
    • Guide the development of core messaging platforms, lexicons, and scientific narratives.
  • Content Development & Oversight

    • Lead the creation and review of promotional materials (e.g., detail aids, MOA animations, congress materials, digital assets).
    • Ensure all content adheres to regulatory guidelines (FDA, PhRMA) and client MLR processes.
    • Provide scientific input during creative concepting and execution phases.
  • Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Act as a trusted scientific advisor to clients, participating in strategic discussions and presentations.
    • Partner with account, strategy, and creative teams to ensure scientific accuracy and brand consistency.
    • Support new business efforts through scientific insights and pitch participation.
  • Team Development & Mentorship

    • Mentor junior medical writers and scientific strategists, fostering growth and excellence.
    • Promote a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and scientific rigor.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a life science discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in medical communications, HCP advertising, or pharmaceutical marketing.
  • Deep understanding of clinical data, disease states, and therapeutic landscapes.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information into impactful messaging.
  • Strong presentation skills and client-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with MLR processes and regulatory standards.
