Maintenance Technician

Purpose of the Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and availability of production equipment and supporting utilities. The role focuses on carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance in line with operational priorities and maintenance plans. The position contributes to maintaining equipment performance, product quality, and operational continuity within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Work in full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company standards.
• Correctly apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Safely operate tools, equipment, and maintenance machinery.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.
• Follow procedures related to electrical, mechanical, and other technical safety requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas during and after maintenance activities.

Maintenance Execution

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance in accordance with work orders and maintenance schedules.
• Carry out mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation activities depending on technical specialization.
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and test production equipment and technical installations.
• Support equipment start-up and commissioning activities following maintenance interventions.
• Use tools, spare parts, and materials efficiently and responsibly.
• Participate in planned shutdowns, overhauls, and maintenance projects.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support

• Perform first-line troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on equipment and systems.
• Identify root causes of technical issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Support reliability improvement initiatives and minor equipment modifications.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to resolve equipment-related issues.
• Escalate complex or recurring technical problems when necessary.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

• Perform maintenance activities in accordance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
• Ensure equipment is left in a safe, clean, and operational condition after maintenance.
• Prevent contamination and quality risks during maintenance work.
• Follow equipment release, cleaning, and inspection procedures where applicable.
• Report quality concerns, deviations, or compliance issues immediately.
• Support audit and inspection readiness through adherence to procedures and documentation requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

• Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and technical documentation.
• Record maintenance activities, interventions, and observations in a timely manner.
• Report equipment failures, defects, and completed work clearly and accurately.
• Provide feedback on recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration

• Work closely with supervisors, maintenance colleagues, operations teams, and other stakeholders.
• Support the coordinated execution of maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment focused on safety, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Competencies

Education & Experience

• Vocational or technical education (MBO Level 2/3 or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience in food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or other regulated industries is an advantage.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is desirable.
• Willingness to work in a shift-based environment where required.
