Overview

Our client is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, and collaborative In Vivo Associate Scientist or Scientist with strong hands-on experience in rodent handling, dosing, and biological sample collection. This individual will join a preclinical pharmacology team and play a key role in the design and execution of complex in vivo studies. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to support drug discovery and early-stage research programs through the development of animal models and generation of high-quality scientific data.

Key Responsibilities

Representative responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer therapeutic agents to rodents through a variety of routes, including intraperitoneal (IP), intravenous (IV), oral gavage, retro-orbital, intrathecal, intratracheal, subcutaneous, and intracerebroventricular administration.
  • Perform blood collection through multiple techniques, including submandibular, saphenous vein, tail vein, and cardiac puncture methods.
  • Conduct necropsies, tissue collection procedures, and perfusions.
  • Monitor animal health, document clinical observations, and maintain accurate study records.
  • Assist with the development, optimization, and validation of rodent disease models.
  • Collaborate with in vivo research teams, vivarium personnel, project leaders, and ex vivo analysis groups.
  • Author and review study protocols, experimental procedures, and electronic laboratory notebook entries.
  • Analyze experimental results and present findings to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with approved animal use protocols, IACUC guidelines, and all applicable ethical, regulatory, and safety requirements within an AAALAC-accredited research environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience conducting in vivo research involving rodent models.
  • Strong knowledge of standard rodent techniques, including dosing, handling, restraint, and biological sample collection.
  • Demonstrated expertise in blood and fluid collection methods, including tail vein and saphenous vein sampling.
  • Experience performing animal necropsies and tissue collection procedures with a high degree of technical proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced research environment.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and data presentation skills.
